Bold & bright

As this vibrant look from @morethanyouraverage shows - a healthy dose of contrast is an easy way to dial up the style value of an outfit without a lot of fussiness.

I love the way the red booties pick up the pops of red in the top, and the giant hoops in canary yellow reiterate the sunny trousers.

Recreating the Look, Secondhand First

As always, I've dedicated an entire board on Pinterest to an ongoing collection of currently available secondhand items you can purchase to recreate a similar look.

Here's a little preview of a few of my favorite as of posting! Side note: how many red booties are too many red booties?? #askingforafriend

What Makes a Good Outfit?

In this case, the high contrast geometric print on this statement blouse adds an edginess that may suit you (or your current mood) better than a ruffled or super feminine version like this one, but the outfit is made up of similar elements:

Are any of these elements in your closet already? Can you remix clothes you already own to create a similar outfit? If you need to fill in some holes, or want very specific pieces to make an outfit like this, follow this pinterest board for an ever expanding collection!
